GP9 7059 VIRX is owned by Vancouver Island Rail Tours, and is currently at SRY shops in New West for compressor replacement and servicing and is planned to be moved over to Parksville,BC to be used by a railway training school.
A heritage railway operation is in the works hopefully by summer 2008, if agreements can be reached with SVI & the ICF.
VIRX and the E&N Division,CRHA and other partners are working together for a successful startup operation, that will benefit the local area businesses, and great for railway buffs, by running rail fan trips and other special runs on parts of the E&N.
